Congrats Visura! ️

This interview is for every Visura member and any future visual storyteller, media professional, and organizations that wants to work with the Visura community to elevate the media language today by recognizing the value of professional visual stories worldwide.

The media works to inform and educate through visual storytelling primarily. Therefore, it is incomprehensible that professional visual storytellers today cannot make a sustainable living in a trillion dollar industry, and that we may feel helpless about it. Yes, we can and we are doing something to change this business.

We are empowering professional visual storytellers worldwide! We are working to identify key tools and offer cost-effective solutions to have an online presence in order to connect with career paid opportunities and share news. We are working to make sure that social media is not the only source for professional visual storytellers to connect with buyers for it compromises the value of the media work itself. We are working to connect visual storytellers with photo editors, curators, art directors, editors, writers, journalists, artists, collectors, creative directors, educators, scientists, researchers, doctors, architects, and other leaders in other fields that can empower their stories.

Together, we can work to elevate the media language by creating a new place that celebrates merit-based opportunities for professionals regardless of gender, culture, color, race, socioeconomic background and any other differences gatekeepers want to point out.

As a Hispanic woman, I no longer feel that I need to come to you, Mr. Gatekeeper, to share my work, impress you or even try to change your mind. I am what I am. I own it all. I love what I do. You, who reminded me that I was different because of my heritage and would never belong, you taught me a lesson: I did belong, it was just not in your world, and I am proud of that difference.

The Visura family created its own garden with new soil: one where each seed can become its own unique, empowered, hardworking and ready for the job self. Our time, work, stories, and ideas matter and are valuable. Who tells the story matters. The people in the stories matter. I work to empower my peers and the media language as a whole because I wholeheartedly believe in the importance of the work that media professionals do as well as the result visual stories being published and distributed on media outlets have on the ethos of society. To elevate the media language, and salvage the media industry, we need to redefine the business through which content and talent are being found, published and distributed. Professional visual storytellers worldwide need access to an industry that values their work but a marketplace that reflects those values.

Thank you, Visura member, for no one person acts alone. Every step forward is because of you.
Love & light will find a way!
